Description: Atosiban acetate (CAS NO. 90779-69-4) is an inhibitor of the hormones oxytocin and vasopressin. In rats and guinea pigs, atosiban acetate was shown to bind to oxytocin receptors, to decrease the frequency of contractions and the tone of the uterine musculature, resulting in a suppression of uterine contractions. Tractocile is used as an intravenous medication as a labour repressant (tocolytic) to halt premature labor.
