  2. Description:
  
  Secnidazole belongs to category of antiprotozoal agents drugs. Secnidazole is a type of potentiate anticoagulant effect of warfarin. Concurrent disulfî Ram may cause antabuse-like effects cimetidine prolongs half-life.
  
  It belongs to 5 nitroimidazole, effective in intestinal ameobiasis, giardiasis, trichomoniasis or bacterial vaginosis with a single once only dose.
  
  Secnidazole is a nitroimidazole anti-infective. Effectiveness in the treatment of dientamoebiasis has been reported. It has also been tested against Atopobium vaginae. This drug is commonly sold as Brand Name Flagentyl.
  
  3. Applications:
  
  Secnidazole has the advantage of being a single dose treatment and in humans treated with a single dose of secnidazole (30 mg/kg), it achieved up to 98% cure. Researchers, in a comparative study between secnidazole and metronidazole found a curative rate of 100% for secnidazole and 96% for metronidazole. However, when metronidazole was used in a single dose, its curative rate was reduced to 36-54%. On the other hand, a single dose of secnidazole reaches the same response achieved with multiple dosage regimens of metronidazole or tinidazole.
  Side Effects of Secnidazole: Nausea, epigastric pain, glossitis, fatigue, head ache, loss of appetite, diarrhea stomatitis, urticaria rash & leucopenia.
