  The property and use: MTBE(Molecular formula:CH₃OC(CH₃)₃), is colorless transparent volatile liquid with low viscosity and special odor, which belongs to the organic ethers. It’s vapor is heavier than air, and can diffuses along earth surface. When it is mixed with a strong oxidizing agent, it can burn. The purity of MTBE is about 96%-99.5%. It can be used a gasoline additive foe anti-knock.
