Product description: Product Name: Formaldehyde Trade Names, Synonyms: Formaline, Formol, Methanal Chemical Characterization: Formaldehyde, CH2O Properties: Gazeous at standard condition, melting point 118 C, boiling point 19 C production: Catalytic conversion of Methanol with air Typical form of product: aqueous solution of Formaldehyde 37-55% w/w. with 0.5-15% w/w. of Methanol Uses and application Formaldehyde is one of the most important products for direct use or as an intermediate chemical in various fields of the chemical industry and other related industries. More than half of the formaldehyde production is employed in the manufacture of urea- , phenol- and melamine-formaldehyde polycondensates . These are used for the production of adhesives and impregnating resins for particle boards , plywood and furniture , and also for the production of curable, molding materials , surface coatings auxiliary in the textile , leather, rubber and cement industry ,foamed resins, binders for foundry sand and insulating materials , and nitrogen fertilizers. The uses of formaldehyde as an intermediate comprise the synthesis of 1,4-butanediol, Trimethylolpopan , Neopentylglycol and pentaerythritol. These are needed for the manufacture of Polyurethanes, polyesters, synthetic resin coatings, synthetic lubricating oils, and plasticizers. Considerable demand formaldehyde also exist in the production of Methylene diphenyi diisocyanate ( MDI, polyurethane constituent ), of nitrilo triacetic acid and ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid ( NTA and EDTA, detergent components ) of polyacetals ( polyoxymethylenes, plastics productions ), and of hexamethylenetetramine ( resin cross-linking agent ). Direct use of Formaldehyde includes disinfection and preservation in medicine, conservation in cosmetical products ,corrosion inhibitors. |
