About us

As a result of its extensive activities to date, Mitsui Engineering and Shipbuilding has accumulated a vast reserve of manufacturing related technology.

By integrating and combining our broad range of technology we have created unique know-how on integrated engineering through the optimal blend of software and hardware.

Our problem-solving engineering draws on our extensive expertise, flair and flexibility to provide the best solutions to meet the needs of our customers, and our life cycle solution services cover the entire operational life of our products, thus earning us the confidence of many users.

Our activities are not limited to shipbuilding, and also include the environment, energy, production, mechatronics, information, logistics, industrial plants, medical science, and leisure sectors.

Environment-Related Recycling

We build many advanced waste treatment facilities in harmony with the surrounding environment. "Mitsui Recycling 21 (R21) - Pyrolysis and High Temperature Combustion System" is a waste treatment system developed to commercial application level well ahead of other firms. The system has earned an excellent evaluation from many local government bodies and authorities.

In the area of water treatment, we provide numerous systems such as treatment of industrial wastewater and sewage, incineration of sludge and disposal of waste oil.

In addition, our bio gas plant converts the excreta of livestock to gas and energy, and an MES subsidiary in Denmark has achieved good results with this.

Construction of Social Infrastructure

Our technology in the area of bridges, watergates, penstocks and construction steel framework is making a major contribution to infrastructure development and the creation of pleasant cities.

In the field of bridges, we have participated in the construction of many large bridges such as the Aqualine of Tokyo bay, the Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge, and Tsing Ma Bridge in Hong Kong.

We are active in the area of waterfront development work including manmade island, offshore airports and ports and harbor construction, and in this work we employ our pre-stressed concrete hybrid floating structures that are used extensively for floating mooring berths, floating seawall structures, and massive caissons. We have also established numerous commercial investigation and diagnostic technologies/repair works for structures, tunnels and roads, etc.

Our integrated engineering is employed in numerous projects worldwide.

Advanced Machinery Systems

We provide an extensive range of factory automation systems in areas including extrusion presses, a product group we supply to many sectors worldwide.

In the semiconductor and LCD sector, considerable attention is focused on CVD-SiC wafers, made using our original CVD.

In the control mechatronics sector, we have developed robot systems to undertake safe inspection and work in nuclear power facilities, underwater and overhead work locations, as well as load balancers for aircraft maintenance.

IT-Related Activities

We are providing powerful support for the IT revolution occurring today in industry, mainly focusing on information/telecommunications and system integration (SI).

In this sector, we have developed numerous total package systems utilizing cutting edge multimedia and networking technology.

We have established advanced visual simulation technology utilizing 3-D animation for use in production information systems including FA simulation and tools to create simulated production systems.

Ships and Oceans

We have drawn on our more than 80 years of experience to build a diverse range of advance ships. We achieved this by introducing integrated systems from computer-aided design to shipbuilding, and we were one of the first to do so.

In general ships, we have the top share worldwide in LNG tankers, and our double hull tankers that prevent ocean pollution and our wide spectrum of freight vessels have earned an excellent reputation.

Our high-tech destroyers, submarine rescue vessels, patrol vessels and various research and survey vessels have all earned an outstanding evaluation.

Plant Construction

In plant engineering operations, we have built well over 1,000 outstanding plants in over 40 countries worldwide.

Drawing on this accumulated know-how, we build cutting edge plants in numerous sectors matched to the needs of the 21st century and designed to protect the environment while ensuring effective use of valuable resources. These include oil refining, petroleum/coal chemistry, gas chemistry, non-organic chemistry, resin chemistry, chemical fertilizers, and biotechnology /fermentation.

We make full use of our branches and representative offices located worldwide as well as networks encompassing group companies, and we implement projects smoothly and speedily while ensuring good cost performance.

Logistics Systems

We integrate total logistics systems from intake to storage, shipping out and supply utilizing advanced technology incorporating integrated hardware and software. We also placing emphasis on the development of new logistics systems able to respond to globalization.

In the area of container cranes, we are engaged in global sales activities for ship cargo loading/unloading cranes and container yard crane systems.

We are also stressing the automation of container yards, and we have developed several unique MES original products including computer controlled container sway prevention units, AGVs (unmanned trolleys that carry heavy loads), and integrated automation software, etc.

Energy Systems

With the object of effective utilization of resources and the preservation of the environment, there is a movement underway to combine energy resources utilizing numerous energy resources.

Our power generation boilers employ original technology, and they have earned an excellent reputation worldwide. In addition, combined power generation utilizing a combination of gas and steam turbines, gas turbine cogeneration, and diesel power generation using natural gas are responding to many needs with cutting edge technology.

We have also built some of the largest power generator barges in the world resembling massive power stations floating on the sea.

They are contributing to the stable supply of electric power in South-East Asia and the Middle East. In the nuclear power generation sector, we have gained a high reputation for reliability, mainly in the area of nuclear fuel cycle facilities.
