Chlorobenzene is a colorless liquid with a boiling point of 132.2 °C. The bitter acid required for the production of military explosives during the First World War. Between 1940 and 1960, it was used in large quantities to produce DDT pesticides. After 1960, DDT was gradually replaced by other pesticides with high efficiency and low residual toxicity, and the demand for chlorobenzene was declining.
