Characteristice: A high molecular weight copolymer resin containing approximately 81 percent vinyl chloride, 4 percent vinyl acetate, and 15 percent hydroxyalkyl acrylate, with the hydroxyl content at 1.8 percent. VAF has excellent adhesion on paper, polysulfone resin, acrylic resin, PVC, ABS, PC and the surface of ink.

VAF has good compatibility with other film-forming material, such as alkyd resins, polyurethane elastomers, isocyanate resin, melamine resin, urea-formaldehyde, epoxy polymers and so on. So VAF often used with other film-forming material in order to improve the coating performance, and enhance paint adhesion, flexibility, tenacity, hardness and chemical resistance. The hydroxyl functional group permits crosslinking reactions for thermoset coating systems that exhibit outstanding chemical and water resistance.

Solubility: Ketones is a particularly good solvent, and esters is the relatively weak solvent. Chlorinated hydrocarbons such as dichloroethane and 1,2 - dichloroethane can completely dissolve VAF, and methyl chloroform and tetrachloroethane can only swell it. Aromatic hydrocarbons have a good role in the swelling, generally using with ketone. VAF can be dissolved in relatively strong solvent/diluent combinations, such as 50 percent ketone/50 percent aromatic hydrocarbon, to produce resin solutions of 20-22 percent solids. VAF resin solution viscosity and other characteristics is very similar to VAH.

Application: VAF can be used for a wide range of coatings applications, including maintenance and marine finishes, paper coatings, metal finishes, PET inks, wood, plastic coatings, and adhesive for magnetic tape and carbon ribbon.
