Colorless gas with strong irritating smell, easily soluble in water , alcohol and aether. M.P.: -92oC, B.P.: -21oC, Density(liquid): 0.815g/cm3(20oC), easily soluble in water and ethanol.

Applications
1) Wood industry :Used in the production of lauxite and phenolic resin
2) Textiles industry :Used as printing & dyeing auxiliaries for pure cotton textiles.
3) Solvent preservative :35%-40% formalin can be used in the soaking of biological samples and in the disinfection of seeds.
4) Food industries:Used in the storage of aquatic products.
