Nature Description: white crystalline powder.
Melting point 165-166 ℃ (168-170 ℃). Soluble in acetone and ether, slightly soluble in chloroform, insoluble in water. Purposes: as a plant growth-stimulating hormone and analytical reagent. Indole - 3 - acetic acid, and 3 - indole acetaldehyde 3 - indole acetonitrile, auxins such as ascorbic acid substances naturally occurring in nature, 3 - indole acetic acid biosynthesis in plants precursor tryptophan. Auxins fundamental role is to regulate the growth of plants, not only can promote the growth and inhibit the growth and organ formation effect. Auxin in plant cells not only exist in the free state, there may also be combined with biological macromolecules firmly bound auxin type, there are also formed conjugates auxins and special materials, such as Indolylacetyl asparagine , indole acetic acid and indole A pentose acetyl glucose.
